When the American Cancer Society began supporting research in the 1940s, less than one out of every four cancer patients survived five years or more. Today the overall survival rate is two out of three — and when many common cancers are caught early, the survival rate increases to nine out of ten.
Research is the greatest tool we have in the fight against cancer. One rarely has the chance to play a direct role in a specific scientific discovery that saves lives. Grand View League’s unique local initiative provides our supporters with such an opportunity. We invite you to personally participate and invest in this Initiative where 100% of donor funds are pooled to award grants to research projects in the Greater Bay Area.
Those providing support of $1000 or more toward this initiative will enjoy unique benefits including:
Grand View League Funded Postdoctoral Fellowship Recipients:
Dr. Matthew Frank Bio - 2016 | Stanford University Dr. Jessica Tucker Bio - 2017 | University of California, Berkeley
For more than a 100 years, The American Cancer Society has been leading the fight to end cancer. With your support, we have helped usher in an era where more people survive cancer than ever before. By translating our research findings into action, we've seen a 20% decline in US cancer death rates since the early 1990s.
